(CelebrityAccess) – Digital distribution service DistroKid has announced a TikTok integration for independent artists.
The new integration — which Distrokid members must opt into — allows any artist who subscribes to the service to submit their music to TikTok free of charge.
In a Medium post announcing the news, DistoKid founder Phillip Kaplan, said: “Artists have been asking us to add TikTok on a daily basis. Done!”
According to Billboard, Kaplan has since confirmed that artists will receive royalties when their music is used on the app, however, he did not indicate at what rate.
As one of the most popular apps in the world, TikTok, has now been downloaded over a billion times. It’s also where “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X (the longest-running #1 single in history) found its initial audience and took off as a viral hit.
