TAMPA (CelebrityAccess) — Charges of felony battery against rapper Chris Brown have been dropped.
A representative for Hillsborough County courts on Monday told NBC affiliate WFLA that the prosecutor will not move forward with the case.
TMZ reported that sources with knowledge of the case said the charges were dropped over credibility issues with key witnesses.
“After a thorough review of the facts and information from the alleged victim, our office determined there was insufficient evidence to prosecute,” the Florida State Attorney’s office told TMZ.
Brown was facing the charges following an incident in 2017 when Brown was alleged to have punched a photographer during a paid appearance at a Tampa nightclub.
Brown was subsequently arrested in Palm Beach County on a warrant for that alleged incident in July 2018 and he later pleaded not guilty to the charge with his attorney maintaining that he had been “wrongfully accused.”
