(CelebrityAccess) — For the second year in a row, the Lollapalooza music festival was marred by the death of one of the fans who turned out for the event.
Melissa Stratton, a spokeswoman for Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications, told Fox News that the attendee was transported for medical care in critical condition Saturday night and later died at an area hospital.
Stratton added that the circumstances surrounding the individual’s death are still being investigated.
The festival, now in its 28th year, and its 15th at its present home in Chicago’s grant, saw more than 400,000 fans turn out across the four days of the event.
The Chicago Tribune reported that there were 31 arrests, mostly for controlled substance possession, 31 citations, and 116 EMS transports over the four-day event, according to city officials.
In a statement on Monday, a representative for the festival told the Tribune, “We are saddened to learn of the death of an individual who attended Lollapalooza on Saturday. Our thoughts are with the individual’s family and loved ones at this time.”
