BARRIE, Ontario (CelebrityAccess) The Roxodus Music Festival, scheduled to take place July 11-14 at the Edenvale Aiport in Stayner, near Barrie, Ontario, was canceled today after organizers said the venue in Clearview Township would not be ready in time.
In a statement released via social media, festival organizers blamed “tremendous rainy weather” over the past couple of months for their inability to adequately produce the event. However, many ticket holders are skeptical of this reasoning given that the festival site is located less than an hour away from Burl’s Creek event grounds in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, which hosted upwards of 70,000 fans for a Rolling Stones concert this past weekend on Canada Day.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the Roxodus Music Festival this year. Our team has worked tirelessly to find a solution in which the show can go on but unfortunately, we could not make it happen this year,” the statement read. “Our dream of producing a ‘once in a lifetime experience’ has been put on hold as we take the time to nurture our venue. We sincerely thank all of our artists, sponsors, partners, and neighbours who have supported us from the very beginning. The embrace from our community has meant the world to us and we hope to one day see our dream come to life. Information about ticket refunds will be released shortly,” they added.
The announcement of the cancellation also coincided with news that the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a former employee of the festival’s parent company, MF Live Inc. Police have not indicated what the nature of the investigation is or provided any details as to whether or not it is tied to the festival’s cancellation.
Artists scheduled to perform at Roxodus included: Aerosmith, Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, Peter Frampton and Cheap Trick and more.
