German promoter FKP Scorpio said last weekend broke attendance records, with their two music festivals — Hurricane and Southside — as well as two concerts by British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.
FKP Scorpio did more €50 million in turnover between June 21st and June 23rd, with more than 580,000 tickets sold in aggregate, company founder and CEO Folkert Koopmans told IQ Magazine.
Hurricane, which took place at Scheeßel, in Lower Saxony, and the Southside Festival in Baden-Wuerttemberg, combined drew 380,000 fans over three days, with lineups that included Foo Fighters, the Cure, Die Toten Hosen, Mumford & Sons, Macklemore, and Tame Impala.
Weekend results for FKP Scorpio were also bolstered by Ed Sheeran’s shows, which saw him perform at the first of four concerts at the Hockenheimring in front of 100,000 fans, his biggest show to date.
Koopmans told IQ that the €50m turnover was derived from revenue from ticketing, as well as sponsorship and F&B for the festivals, and from ticketing only for Sheeran.
