(CelebrityAccess) Bob Dorian, 85, actor and the first prime-time host of American Movie Classics, who also had a career as The Amazing Dorian, died June 15, his family announced.

Dorian, born in Brooklyn, performed on stage, radio, television and film. He appeared in Woody Allen’s “Hollywood Ending” and “The Curse of the Jade Scorpion” and his voice was used in Sam Raimi’s classic horror movie “The Evil Dead” as an archaeologist with taped recorded readings from an ancient text that was used to resurrect a demon.

He also had a recurring role on AMC’s “Remember WENN” and was the first host for American Movie Classics when the cable channel launched in 1984. Dorian would announce films from a makeshift living room, offering trivia before and after the commercial breaks.

Other film credits include “The Last Confederate” and he performed in regional theater. He recently retired to Florida.
