SACRAMENTO, CA (CelebrityAccess) — Dimple Records, an independent music retailer with stores in Central California for more than 4 decades, announced they are shutting down.
Originally founded by John Radakovitz in 1974, the company which became Dimple currently operates seven locations around Sacramento and sells a range of products including new and used CDs, comics, video games, books and DVDs.
“It has been a pleasure being able to serve my community for such a long time. I have enjoyed every minute of it,” John Radakovitz said in a press statement.
In an interview with the Sacremento Business Journal, Dilyn Radakovitz, the wife of company founder John Radakovitz, said the business is closing for a combination of reasons, including declining profitability and the changing nature of the recorded music industry.
Radakovitz noted the increasing trend of musicians to not release physical product and instead to rely on digital distribution via the Internet. It’s really hard to sell something if they don’t make it,” she told the Business Journal.
A store closing sale will begin Wednesday and likely continue for several weeks.
