TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — At least two people were shot in downtown Toronto during a rally celebrating the Toronto Raptors’ first NBA championship on Monday
According to the CBC, the shooting happened shortly before 4 p.m. ET, near city hall and Nathan Phillips Square where a victory parade was taking place.
Toronto police initially reported a woman had been shot and later updated the report to indicate that there were two victims, both with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police also reported that two suspects had been taken into custody and two firearms had been recovered, the CBC reported.
Video of the incident captured by CBC News reporters at the parade show throngs of people fleeing the scene.
The celebration was briefly while several people, including Raptors coach Nick Nurse and broadcaster Matt Devlin urged the crowd to remain calm. The event eventually resumed, Global News reported.
Toronto officials estimated that two million people turned out for the event.
