LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – Jillionaire, aka Trinidadian DJ-producer Christopher Leacock, has exited Major Lazer following eight years, two major albums and a handful of EPs with the group.
Jillionaire, who joined the Caribbean-influenced trio fronted by founding member Diplo, in 2011 alongside Jamaican Walshy Fire, has been replaced by Ape Drums, aka Texas native Eric Alberto-Lopez, who also specializes in futuristic dancehall jams.
Major Lazer previously contributed production on Ape Drums’ 2016 single “The Way We Do This.” He made his first appearance onstage as a member of the group at the Governors Ball this past Saturday.
Last month Major Lazer released a teaser video announcing a new era for the group, which also includes a new album scheduled for release this summer. They recently shared the project’s lead single, the Skip Marley collab “You Can’t Take It From Me.” Check it out below.
