PHILADELPHIA (CelebrityAccess) – Philadelphia’s District Attorney, Larry Krasner, has ruled that rapper Meek Mill will be granted a new “unbiased” trial after being slapped with a two to four-year sentence for a probation violation back in 2017.

Following a highly public campaign for his release, Meek was finally freed on bail in April of last year.

Now, according to court documents filed Wednesday (May 22), Krasner says former Judge Genece Brinkley’s court “abused its discretion” in the case, and criticized Brinkley for checking up on Mill at a homeless shelter while he was fulfilling community service requirements, an act she did not routinely engage in with other probationers.

“The public perception of unfairness and bias is exactly what the court’s behavior has engendered here,” the D.A.’s office added.

Krasner, who has called for Brinkley’s removal in the past, says Mill, who has since successfully completed a drug treatment program and does not pose a threat to the community, should get a new trial before a different judge.

Details of the new trial remain pending.
