LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Britney Spears’s longtime manager Larry Rudolph says that the former teen pop idol may be done with performing for a while and maybe forever.
“As the person who guides her career — based on the information I and all of the professionals who work with her are being told on a need-to-know basis — from what I have gathered it’s clear to me she should not be going back to do this Vegas residency, not in the near future and possibly never again,” Rudolph told TMZ.
Spears was due to start her residency in February but postponed the launch in January after father Jamie Spears suffered a near-fatal colon rupture. At the time, her team also announced that she’d be taking an indefinite hiatus from performing.
In March, documents obtained by The Blast revealed that her longtime co-conservator Andrew Wallet resigned, leaving Jamie Spears as her sole conservator. Later that month, Spears announced via social media that she was checking herself into a mental health facility for 30 days while dealing with the fallout from her father’s health crisis.
However, in a court appearance this week, Spears made statements that suggested that the commitment had not been voluntary. According to TMZ, she told the judge her father had checked her into the facility against her will and she had been forced to take drugs.
She also asked the judge to end the conservatorship her father has had over her for more than a decade, TMZ reported. However, the judge declined to make a ruling on the conservatorship and instead ordered a mental health expert to evaluate Spears.
