LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) — Puerto Rican reggaeton star Ozuna made history at the Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday, winning 11 of the 15 categories he was nominated for, including artist of the year.
Ozuna, who had 23 total nominations, now holds the record for the most wins in a single year in the awards show’s history. In addition to artist of the year, Ozuna also took home trophies for Hot Latin Songs artist of the year, male, Latin album of the year, and top Latin albums male artist of the year.
However, it wasn’t all about Ozuna and other winners for the night included Latin boy band CNCO, who took home the prizes for Latin Pop Album, Latin pop artist of the year duo or group and Latin rhythm album of the year, duo or group.
Shakira took top honors for top Latin album of the year, female, but missed out on the top Latin tour of the year, which went to Luis Miguel.
‘Gaby Music’ AKA Juan G. Rivera Vazquez, took home the trophy for Latin songwriter of the year, while Chris Jeday was named producer of the year.
This year’s Lifetime Achievement award went to the celebrated Dominican artist and producer Juan Luis Guerra.
The 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards took place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and was telecast via Telemundo. Winners were selected based on sales, radio airplay, online streaming and social data during a one-year period.
