(CelebrityAccess) — Bodak Yellow rapper Cardi B faced criticism on social media after a video in which she claims she used to drug and rob men when she used to work as an exotic dancer.
The three-year-old video, which was recorded 3 years ago on Instagram Live, and which was reshared on social media this weekend, appeared to show an emotional Cardi discussing the challenges she faced before her career took off.
“I had to go strip, I had to go, ‘Oh yeah, you want to f*ck me? Yeah yeah yeah, let’s go back to this hotel,’ and I drugged n****s up and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do,” she said.
After the video resurfaced, some critics on social media called for her to be ‘canceled’ and the hashtag #survivingcardi began to circulate, which apparently prompted Cardi, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, to issue a response via Instagram on Tuesday.
In the response, she doesn’t deny her previous admission but suggests that she did what she needed to do “to make a living” and suggested that the men she claims she drugged and robbed were complicit.
