MELBOURNE (CelebrityAccess) – The Australasian Performing Rights Association has revealed the nominees for next month’s 2019 APRA Music Awards.

Leading the pack is last year’s Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year, Sarah Aarons (pictured), with four nominations. Aarons has had a breakout year following successful collaborations with Peking Duk and The Rubens and co-writing credits on Zedd’s global hit “Stay” and Grammy-nominated “The Middle,” featuring Maren Morris & Grey.

ARIA Award winner Amy Shark and 2019 Young Australian of the Year Danzal Baker (aka Baker Boy) are both close behind with three nods each.

Shark, who is nominated in the prestigious, peer-voted APRA song of the year category for the third successive year, with “I Said Hi,” lifted from her chart-topping debut album Love Monster, will battle it out with Mojo Juju’s “Native Tongue,” Angie McMahon’s “Slow Mover,” Ainslie Wills’ “Society” and Paul Kelly’s “With The One I Love” for the night’s top honor.

Dual nominees include Pnau, Vance Joy, Sheppard, Tash Sultana, Morgan Evans, Jack Ladder, Angie McMahon, and one-time Triple J Hottest 100 winners The Rubens.

Returning to host this year’s event is acclaimed Melbourne writer, performer, comedian, producer and broadcaster Brian Nankervis.

Established in 1982, the APRA Music Awards celebrate excellence in contemporary music and honor Australian songwriters and music publishers that have achieved outstanding success in their fields both at home and abroad.

This year’s ceremony scheduled to take place April 30th at Melbourne Town Hall.
