MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (CelebrityAccess) — Construction is officially underway at the site of Live Nation’s newest Fillmore-branded concert venue in Minneapolis’s North Loop neighborhood.
According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Live Nation is planning for the 36,000 square-foot concert venue to be opened in Spring 2020 said it was too early to provide a firm date.
The 2,000-capacity theater will take a page from the design of Live Nation’s Fillmore in San Francisco, and will be part of a mixed-use retail and residential community that includes a 150+ room Westin Hotel.
When it opens, the Fillmore Minneapolis will be the third venue the market managed by Live Nation, which also operates the 960-capacity Varsity Theater and the 8,000-capacity Armory, which re-opened in 2018.
The new venue will position Live Nation up to compete with First Avenue, which operates venues such as their 1500-capacity First Avenue and the First Avenue-managed 2,500-capacity Palace Theatre in St. Paul.
