DETROIT  (CelebrityAccess) — Streaming music service TIDAL announced the launch of TIDAL Unplugged, a new initiative aimed at supporting emerging artists.

The program is kicking off in Detroit, where TIDAL has invited local artists to submit acoustic performance to be eligible for the program.

Artists chosen to participate will be eligible for incentives such as a creative budget, a monthly stipend, Access to recording & creative resources, Industry mentoring, promotional support via TIDAl, and the opportunity to perform in an upcoming TIDAL Unplugged showcase.

“We recognize the power of streaming and the importance of supporting and encouraging emerging musicians,” Jason Kpana, Tidal SVP of artist relations told Variety. “Being able to expand the program to support musicians in an authentic and substantial way is truly an honor.”

According to Variety, the program has been funded through a donation from venture capitalists and philanthropists Mark Lampert of BVF Partners LP, who has previously focused on biotech investments, and Robert Nelsen, co-founder and managing director of ARCH Venture Partners, which also focuses on medical research.

Artists interested in participating can submit entries starting on March 1st.
