LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Independent music publisher Big Deal Music Publishing has announced they have signed a joint venture deal with Mad Decent Publishing, the company founded by artist/producer /DJ Diplo (Wesley Pentz) and his manager and business partner, Kevin Kusatsu.
Under the terms of the agreement Big Deal will administer songs for Mad Decent and the two companies will sign new talent together.
“We’re always looking for partners who have a history of taking chances artistically and making them count and Mad Decent is known for just that,” said Jamie Cerreta, cofounder and executive VP of Big Deal. “Kevin and I have been great friends for years, and it’s been fun to watch him and Wes build this great business and creative platform for innovative talent. It just seems very natural and super exciting to finally get to work together and build something special.”
Founded by Wesley in 2006, Mad Decent started as a record label. Mad Decent has launched several hits, has more than a million YouTube subscribers, and has a live music brand, Mad Decent Blockparty which recently made a stop in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Mad Decent songwriters Picard Brothers contributed to the Mark Ronson single “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart,” featuring Miley Cyrus.
“Partnering with Big Deal gives us the best environment to be effective publishers and A&R people,” Mad Decent partner Kevin Kusatsu said in a statement.
