(CelebrityAccess) Bob Einstein, 76, known for his roles as “Super Dave” Osborne and Marty Funkhouser on Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” died Jan. 2 after battling cancer.

The announcement was made by his younger brother, Albert Brooks.

Einstein is a two-time Emmy award-winning actor and the creator of the “Super Dave” stunt character as well as playing the role of the friend of David on the HBO show.  He was also known for the role of Larry Middleman on “Arrested Development.”

Einstein was recognized in the 1960s as a comedy writer for the groundbreaking “Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour,” where he won an Emmy. In the ’70s, he was known for creating the chicken-hearted stuntman Super Dave who mimicked his fashion to that of Evel Knievel.

“It was an amazing, unforgettable experience knowing and working with him,” David told Rolling Stone. “There was no one like him, as he told us again and again.”

“I’m in shock. I knew him forever,” tweeted comedian Richard Lewis, another star of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

“(Heart emoji) to his loved ones. His long career is hard to match,” Lewis wrote. “His role on #curbyourenthusiasm was excruciatingly brilliant! Our cast and crew will be devastated. He was so loved. He told me how much he loved LD and Curb. RIP buddy.”
