BALTIMORE, MD (CelebrityAccess) — Indie pop group East of Eli has partnered with Giant Food, P&G, Johns Hopkins, and Singing For Superheroes to record a new music video to help raise awareness about the plight of children battling pediatric cancer.
The band’s frontman Nathan West, along with his wife, actress Chyler Leigh (“Supergirl,” ”Grey’s Anatomy”) visited pediatric cancer patients at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore October 13 to film a music video for their original song “No Giving Up.”
The song, primarily written by songwriter Steven Battey, who also performs on the track, includes a self-written contribution from West.
The video features Giant Food pediatric cancer ambassador, Ashley Hackman, along with an introduction from actor Chris Evans and cameos from musicians Rob Thomas, Orianthi, New Found Glory’s Ian Grushka and Howie Dorough from Backstreet Boys.
Singing For Superheroes was founded in 2016 by Battey and Alix Petersen and creates original music for children battling illnesses and disabilities.
“Having the opportunity to give hope through the power of music and spread joy through the halls of John Hopkins’ pediatric cancer center was an absolute honor for us. Partnering with Steven Battey and the Singing For Superheroes foundation was a deeply moving experience we’ll never forget. Music is medicine for the soul and it was so evident that each and every one of us involved got a heavy dose of exactly that. To say that big things often come in little packages is an understatement when you spend time with the real superheroes of the story, the children. They are absolute warriors and the smiles we shared together were a true testament to their huge hearts. We are forever grateful for such an unforgettable day full of laughter and love and look forward to working with Singing For Superheroes again.” East Of Eli’s Nathan West & actress/wife Chyler Leigh said in a joint statement.
