LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Endeavor, with a portfolio of companies including WME, IMG and UFC, today announced the promotion of Mark Shapiro to President. Shapiro joined IMG as Chief Content Officer in 2014.
“The past four years have marked Endeavor’s most pivotal stage of growth, and Mark has played a critical role in getting us to where we are today,” said Ariel Emanuel, CEO of Endeavor. “Mark’s leadership, creativity and drive will help Patrick and me as we continue to scale Endeavor and realize its full potential.”
Shapiro is credited with unifying IMG’s fashion business (which includes IMG Models, The Wall Group, Art + Commerce, LENS, IMG Focus and 20+ global fashion events); supporting a US media rights deal with ESPN for the UFC; developing new formats for IMG’s events portfolio including the upcoming debut of Frieze LA; and enhancing the company’s Endeavor Global Marketing business with key acquisitions across public relations, experiential and advertising.
Prior to joining IMG, Shapiro was CEO of Dick Clark Productions (dcp), managing its day-to-day operations while developing and producing programming for traditional and digital media. Previously, Shapiro served as director, president and CEO of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. Shapiro began his career at ESPN, where he oversaw production and programming and led the creation of sports and entertainment properties.
Shapiro serves on the board of directors of four public companies: Live Nation Entertainment, Frontier Communications, John’s International and Equity Residential.
