BROKEN ARROW, OK (CelebrityAccess) — A public memorial service has been planned to commemorate the life of the iconic country music singer-songwriter Rock Clark.
The memorial, billed as a “celebration of life”, will be held on Wednesday at the Rhema Bible Church 1025 W. Kenosha St. in the Tulsa suburb of Broken Arrow. The public is invited to attend.
Clark, who was 85, died at his home in Tulsa last week due to complications of pneumonia.
A multi-instrumentalist, Clark was best known for his ability with the guitar and hits such as “Yesterday When I was Young” and “Honeymoon Feeling” as well as for his long tenure as the host of the syndicated variety show “Hee-Haw.”
Clark had been a resident of Tulsa since 1974, after moving to the city on the advice of his former manager Jim Halsey, whose office was also located in the city.
According to the Tulsa World, Halsey released a statement after Clark’s passing, saying: “The Halsey family’s hearts are filled with gratitude for the many years (59) of friendship and business association. He was a rare combination of talent and generosity. Roy Clark brought a special kind of healing to the world. He will be missed by the multitudes.”
