AUSTIN, TX (CelebrityAccess) — As the city of Austin gears up for the 2018 edition of the SXSW Music Festival, organizers for the event announced more than 500 showcase artists performing at the fest.
The list of artists confirmed for the festival includes the North American debut of composer Max Richter’s 8-hour masterpiece SLEEP. Recently added Showcasing Artists also include Alamo Record’s producer/rapper Smokepurpp, veteran mellow-rockers Low, Rough Trade signees Goat Girl, up-and-coming Chicano chillwave act Cuco, Australian indie-pop singer Amy Shark, breakout Southern rock band Stop Light Observations, Latin Grammy nominated electronic pop group Centavrvs, among numerous others.
Festival organizers also announced a slate of additions to the conference component of the festival, with YouTube music boss Lyor Cohen handling the keynote duties and Kim Deal, bassist and songwriter for The Breeders, will have a conversation with veteran producer/musician Steve Albini.
Other notable speakers for the conference include philanthropist Melinda Gates, who will provide the Convergence Keynote, and futurist Ray Kurzweil who will present as a part of the Intelligent Futures sessions.
SXSW is set to take place this year from March 12–18, 2018.
