CINCINNATI (CelebrityAccess) PromoWest Productions may be on the verge of building its desired concert pavilion along the banks of the Ohio River in Cincinnati.
Hamilton County leaders tell WCPO that 2018 could be the year they break ground on the $20 million project, which could host performances next year.
“We’re actively working on structuring a deal that makes sense,” Tom Gabelman, the attorney who represents Hamilton County on The Banks project, told the station.
It is not clear if PromoWest would build the project, and the company declined to comment for WCPO’s story. A call from CelebrityAccess was not returned at press time.
PromoWest is known of its venue design, with a stage that can either face inward, with the temporary wall closed behind it, creating a four-wall music space, or outward toward seats and lawn, converting the venue into an amphitheater.
The Columbus-based promotion company, which operates Cincinnati’s Bunbury and Buckle Up music festivals, has been in talks with the city for years to build one of its patented indoor-outdoor venues at The Banks, the riverfront area / mixed-use project between Paul Brown Stadium and Great American Ball Park. Last year, PromoWest’s Scott Stienecker thought the project was dead but the project was back on the table in May.
“We were told The Banks Steering Committee had given the PromoWest project the thumbs down,” Stienecker told WCPO-News. “Now, Tom Gabelman (of The Banks steering committee) just called me and he said they are considering us for an arena within The Banks riverfront area.”
The Banks is apparently in need of the project, having reportedly lost more than seven restaurants over the last two years and is without a developer to lead new projects.
