HAMBURG, Germany (CelebrityAccess) — The 13th edition of the Reeperbahn Festival has wrapped, after hosting more than 40,000 guests and 5,000 delegates across four days of music and conference events.
The festival took place from Sept. 19th through Sept. 22nd, at multiple locations in and around Hamburg, including The Schulmuseum, St. Pauli Church, and the Festival Village. Other locations included nightclubs in Hamburg such as Uebel & Gefährlich, Prinzenbar, Schmidtchen’s Alte Liebe and the newly re-opened Molotow near Grosse Freiheit.
This year’s Reeperbahn dedicated its “keychange” day on Thursday to the topic of gender equality in the music business, while other panels included sessions on everything from live touring horror stories and A&R strategies to streamlining music licensing in Europe.
Three concert productions, specially created for the Reeperbahn Festival by Get Well Soon, David August and Bear’s Den were well-received and organizations such as FKP Scorpio, PIAS and Cargo Records staged music showcases.
As well, dates for the Reeperbahn Festival’s return in 2019 were announced, with the event scheduled to take place from September 18 to 21 with focusing Australia as a country partner.
Festival organizers also teased plans to launch an event in US next month. In cooperation with Deutschlandjahr USA, a public-private partnership intended to foster Germany’s relationship with the US, Reeperbahn organizers will stage a conference in Los Angeles from October 30th through Nov. 5th. The re:publica-curated event is part of the Sequencer Tour, which “offers a platform for discourse and communication within innovative event formats. The thematic focus is on Politics & Society, Leisure & Lifestyle, and Transatlantic Fusion” organizers said.
Other stops planned for the tour in 2019 include Detroit, Portland, and New York.
The event will include showcases, media and music matches, a conference program, and an exhibition hall.
