ATLANTA (CelebrityAccess) With the all-but-official announcement that Maroon 5 will be playing the halftime show at the next Super Bowl in Atlanta, the outcry has already begun.
NFL’s biggest game of the year, Super Bowl LIII, is set for the Mercedes-Benz Stadium Feb. 3, and Variety has several sources confirming Maroon 5, with roots in Los Angeles and New York, as the focus of the big halftime event.
The only problem is, Atlanta has plenty of artists of its own, many of color, like Usher, T.I., Future and Ludacris, who weighed in on the choice:
Atlanta is even the city where “all the playas play,” according to Jermaine Dupri, as noted by CNN.
Maroon 5? With all the artists from Atlanta that are 100 times better? Somebody on the Super Bowl entertainment booking staff needs to be relieved of all duties, pronto.

Not just that, but southern hip-hop was likely birthed in Atlanta.

Waka Flocka Flame told TMZ it’s “not fair” that the NFL selected Maroon 5, saying, “They need somebody from Atlanta, it’s only right.”

Some who have been fortunate enough to attend the “big event” have said that the halftime show is the one thing not viewed by those in the stands. As it is broadcast to a worldwide audience, the actual attendees are busy lining up for the bathrooms and refilling their beers.
