MEXICO CITY (CelebrityAccess) This weekend’s Independence Day celebrations at Mexico City’s iconic Garibaldi Plaza, known for bands serenading tourists, was mired in violence when men dressed as mariachi musicians killed five people and wounded eight at the site on Friday.

The plaza includes the Tenampa cantina, which bills itself as the first to bring mariachi troupes to the plaza in the 1920s.

Police said the attack was orchestrated by three gunmen. A video of the alleged assailants shows them wearing the traditional mariachi garb as they fled away on motorcycles. The Mexico City prosecutors’ office said four people died initially and a fifth died of her wounds at a hospital the next day; at least one foreigner was among the wounded, according to the Associated Press.
