NASHVILLE (CelebrityAccess) Aziz Ansari wrapped his standup routine in the dark Monday night after a power outage shut down much of Nashville.
Ansari, who was performing at a sold-out Zanies, did an unamplified set for most of the show before someone handed him a battery-operated microphone, according to the Tennessean.
“He was doing the show when the power went out,” attendee Chloe Shah told the paper. “He was on for probably an hour and a half, and most of the time it was in the dark.”
The power outage affected about 3,700 customers.
Ansari’s security team came out with flashlights to use as spotlights before Ansari grabbed one and handed it to Shah’s husband, Saumil, to shine on him.
“He found a fellow Indian and trusted him with the spotlight,” Saumil Shah said.
Monday’s later shows were canceled.
