CARDIFF (CelebrityAccess) – Live Nation has been given the go-ahead to turn a Cardiff warehouse into a 10,000-capacity venue.
Under the terms of its license with a Cardiff Council Committee, Live Nation will now be able to hold six events over three weekends of the year for up to 9,999 people aged 16 or over inside Splott Warehouse in Titan Way.
Splott Warehouse is already being used to host a number of popular local events including The Color Festival, which is an annual party that draws major dance and electronic DJs to the area.
While the events must be held at least three months apart and are all subject to police veto, Live Nation, which is also looking at a number of other potential properties in Cardiff, feels it can deliver on the city’s growing musical demands.
Sam Bush, president of UK touring at Live Nation, explained: “There’s a huge demand in the area for music and we want to try and find a way to satisfy the demand for music in the area whether that’s rock music or pop or family shows.
“We’re trying to bring a variety of music to the area. This is the first step and we want to achieve that by doing things the right way.”
Live Nation has agreed to a number of conditions to limit the noise, including appointing a noise consultant and directing speakers away from neighboring properties.
