NOTRE DAME, Indiana (CelebrityAccess) — Country music icon Garth Brooks announced that October 20th will be the date of his performance at Notre Dame Stadium.
Brooks’s performance will be the first concert ever held at the historic, 80,000-capacity stadium. The concert kicks off at 7 PM rain or shine, according to the announcement from tour promoter Varnell Enterprises.
As previously reported in CelebrityAccess, the concert was carefully scheduled to avoid conflicts with Notre Dame’s football season
“This place was built for concerts,” Brooks said during a press conference on Monday. He added that the concert would be configured for in-the-round staging.
“If you naturally think about in the round, you never get to play for more than half the stadium at a time,” he said. “So I’m going to have to lose some serious weight and get ready to start moving around a lot more.”
Tickets for the event go on sale at 9 a.m. Sept. 14 for $98.95 including fees and will only be available through Ticketmaster.
According to the South Bend Tribune, Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood are in the area as part of an effort by the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project to help Habitat For Humanity build 20 homes in nearby Mishawaka. Both Brooks and Yearwood regularly help with similar construction projects around the world each year.
