LOS ANGELES, CA (CelebrityAccess) — Disney’s “Ant-Man And The Wasp” surged to the top of international box office receipts over the weekend with a successful debut in China.
The superhero sequel added $73 million over the weekend, according to estimates compiled by comScore, even though it’s fallen out of the top 12 films in domestic theaters.
The weekend’s gross was the 4th best for a Disney-Marvel film in China and brings the film’s cumulative worldwide to $544 million.
In domestic theaters, the rom-com “Crazy Rich Asians” stayed at the top of the heap, earning an estimated $25.0M.
Also continuing to chug along was the campy giant shark thriller “The Meg” which added $45.7m worldwide, with $13.0M coming from domestic theaters and helping the film to pass the $400m mark worldwide.
