UNCASVILLE, Conn. (CelebrityAccess) Thomas Cantone, senior corporate VP of sports & entertainment for the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn., shared with CelebrityAccess a special moment with Aretha Franklin:
I booked her many times over the years and little did I know the last time would be when we celebrated what would be her very last birthday at Mohegan Sun Arena.
She shared the cake with fans and gave another standing O performance. We just lost the Queen of America’s greatest iconic voices.
She actually stopped the show as we rolled out the very special birthday cake on stage, cut it into 500 pieces and walked out into the crowd to share a piece of cake with her fans.
You don’t see an artist doing that very often. That’s how special she was and her connection to her fans. It’s what makes her The Queen of Soul forever.
