LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Demi Lovato will enter a drug treatment program after she is released from the hospital, according to a report by CNN.
According to CNN, a source close to the singer says she will be released “soon”, and has been supported by friends and family as she recovers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Lovato was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon after she suffered an apparent opiate overdose.
TMZ reported on Tuesday that emergency responders were summoned to her home, where they found her unconscious. According to TMZ, emergency responders revived Lovato with Narcan, a drug that counteracts the symptoms of opioid overdoses before transporting her to the hospital for further treatment.
On Wednesday, a representative for Lovato released a statement that she was recovering.
“Demi is awake and with her family, who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support,” the statement said. “Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”
Lovato has canceled a series of concert dates since her medical emergency, but so far, it is unclear if she will take the stage for her upcoming tour of Mexico and South America, which is due to start in September.
