NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) – The Associated Press has today (July 19) reported that Comcast is officially dropping out of the bidding war for 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets. The media giant will instead focus its attention on its bid for European pay-TV company Sky.
Late last month, Walt Disney Co. presented 21st Century Fox with a $71-billion dollar offer, dealing a certain blow to Comcast’s previous efforts to acquire the business. The meteoric offer was approved by the Justice Department under the stipulation that Disney agreed to sell 22 regional sports networks.
Fox shareholders are set to vote on Disney’s offer July 27.
