CALGARY, AB (CelebrityAccess) – The world famous Calgary Stampede wrapped up its 106th annual edition over the weekend to record-breaking numbers.
With 1,271,241 people in attendance this year, that’s an increase of more than 55 thousand over last year’s event.
“We’re really excited by the attendance number,” Dave Sibbald, Calgary Stampede president and chairman of the board told Global News. “But (what) we’re most fortunate (about) is the community engagement spirit that we felt in the city, not only in our park by throughout the city.”
The Stampede is a non-profit organization, so any profits generated during the event are reinvested into youth and education programs, infrastructure, and the more than 1,800 other events they host throughout the course of the year.
The 106th annual Calgary Stampede ran from July 6th – 15th in Stampede Park, Calgary, Alberta.
