HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA (CelebrityAccess) Municipal staff in Nova Scotia’s capitol Halifax are examining the idea of creating a downtown entertainment district with its own noise rules.
Staff are working on a report that should be delivered in the spring to municipal council.
The staff is also considering granting noise exemptions for specific events like Jazzfest or the Halifax Busker Festival in order that organizers do not have to apply to regional council for the same exemption each year.
“It would ultimately be a decision of regional council what that district would look like,” said municipal spokesperson Brendan Elliott. “We would definitely be consulting with neighborhoods that would be directly affected by a good neighbors policy.”
