STOCKHOLM, Sweden (CelebrityAccess) — EDM-focused indie label Ultra Records announced that they were expanding their operations in Scandinavia and had tapped Michel Petré to oversee their efforts in the region.
“I’m thrilled and excited to start a new chapter in my career,” says Michel Petré. “To be working for one of the best music labels such as Ultra is an honor. I’ve known Patrick Moxey for well over 20 years and I’m truly grateful to get the possibility to work with him and his great team.”
In his new gig, Petré will seek to bolster Ultra’s roster with both artists from the region, as well as international signings.
Petré is a veteran of the market, starting his industry career 44 years ago in one of Stockholm’s first import record stores. Since then, he has gone on to found his own record stores and labels and held senior posts at Edel Music and Ministry of Sound.
More recently, he has spent more than a decade at the helm of his co-owned Family Tree Music that recently was acquired by Sony Music.
Ultra has been affiliated with Sony Music since 2012 when the two companies entered a strategic partnership. Ultra Music CEO Patrick Moxey also serves as the head of Sony’s electronic music operations. The label’s current roster is a who’s who of modern EDM, including Kygo, Steve Aoki, Sofi Tukker, Bakermat, Klingande, Black Coffee, Flosstradamus, Benny Benassi, Omi, Loco Dice, Mako, Bearson, and I Do, among others.
