NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) A new American jazz conference seeks to determine what role jazz can play in today’s society.
Jazz Conference will hold its inaugural event on Jan. 11th in New York City.
Keynote speaker, retired basketball player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, will discuss what role jazz can play in the cultural, political and social framework of today’s society. His father, Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Sr., was both a transit police officer, and a jazz musician.
The goal of the Jazz Conference is to boost the jazz community, which has dwindled over the decades. The conference will be held at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
