TRENTON, N.J. (CelebrityAccess) Gunfire broke out early morning at an all-night art festival in Trenton, N.J., leaving one suspect dead and 20 injured.
Many of the injured were for gunshot wounds. Four, including a 13-year-old boy, were in critcal condition, according to the Associated Press. Authorities said about 1,000 people were in the area when the shooting occurred.
According to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri, two suspects opened fire around 2:45 a.m. During the Art All Night festival that featured local art, music, food and films. One suspect was killed, another is in custody.
Onofri said “multiple individuals opened fire within the venue,” – Roebling Market, a historic building near downtown Trenton. Multiple weapons have been recovered, according to authorities.
“It’s with great regret that we announce that the remainder of Art All Night has been cancelled due to a tragic incident that occurred overnight,” organizers said in a statement. “We’re still processing much of this and we don’t have many answers at this time but please know that our staff, our volunteers, our artists and musicians all seem to be healthy and accounted for. Our sincere, heartfelt sympathies are with those who were injured.”
The shooting appears to be the result of a “neighborhood beef” that unfolded at the festival, Onofri said and not related to terrorism. He added there were no metal detectors at the entrances, according to CNN.
