SASKATOON (CelebrityAccess) Believe it or not, it’s time for Saskatoon, Canada, to honor its native Joni Mitchell.
Saskatoon is the largest city in the province of Saskatchewan with a population of 250,000 but apparently few know that Mitchell was born there, according to CNN. There are no plaques or murals to the city’s “most successful daughter” as the news site puts it.
Yet, as Mitchell is recovering from a stroke in 2015, she is finally being recognized prior to her 75th birthday with a waterfront park and a celebration.
Mitchell will not be present today when they name a promenade in her honor, which will have the title “Joni Mitchell Promenade.”
