ORILLIA, CA (CelebrityAccess) – Organizers of the storied Mariposa Folk Festival have today (June 5) announced that they will be honoring seminal composer and lyricist, Bonnie Dobson, and inducting her composition “Morning Dew” into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame during this year’s festival.
Dobson performed the anti-nuke protest ballad, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, at the first Mariposa Festival in 1961. Since then, “Morning Dew” has been covered by artists ranging from The Grateful Dead, Lulu, Jeff Beck with Rod Stewart, The Allman Brothers, and Nazareth to Long John Baldry, Serena Ryder and countless others.
Mariposa Folk Festival is scheduled to take place July 6th-8th, 2018, in Tudhope Park in Orillia, Ontario, Canada. This year’s lineup includes: Walk Off The Earth, Alan Doyle, Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets, Larkin Poe, Buffy Sainte-Marie, and Bahamas, and 50 plus of the best folk-roots artists on the North American and international music scenes.
