AUSTIN, TX (CelebrityAccess) — Precourt Sports Ventures, owners of the Columbus Crew MLS Club, submitted a proposal for a new $200 million dollar soccer stadium in Austin, where they hope to relocate the team.

The proposed location of the 21,000-seat stadium is a 24-acre plot of land at 10414 McKalla Place near the Domain and according to the proposal, the construction of the stadium would be privately funded.

Per the proposal, the City of Austin would retain ownership of the land but the stadium and park would be operated by and maintained by PSV. PSV would donate the stadium to the city, and would lease it back, the proposal said.

PSV has been searching for a stadium site since announcing plans to potentially relocate the team from its current home in Columbus, Ohio last October.

Earlier this month, Precourt Sports Ventures released a conceptual site plan showing the stadium, as well as parking facilities and an outdoor concert venue. The design for the proposed stadium was drawn up by Gensler, TBG and CAA Icon.

“The renderings were absolutely gorgeous,” Andrew Urban, vice president of the MLS in Austin Supporters Group told local public radio station WOSU. “I was excited to see the parkland, I was excited to see the environmental aspects of it, the knowing the transportation area that it’s next to the entertainment areas that it’s next to.”

The proposed (and admittedly ambitious) schedule for the stadium would see construction start as early as the summer of 2018 and the stadium hosting its first event by Spring 2021.
