LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Roseanne Barr spent much of Tuesday and today explaining herself on Twitter after one tweet canceled her highly rated return of “Roseanne.” Some of those tweets have caught the attention of the mainstream media, including one where she suggests Ambien may have played a role in her tweeting.

Barr put herself into the middle of a 24-hour firestorm after criticizing President Barack Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett by using an ape reference, which immediately was criticized as racist.

“I honestly thought she was Jewish and Persian-ignorant of me for sure, but…i did,” Barr, who is Jewish, tweeted. Jarrett was born in Iran to African-American parents.  (She also once tweeted that Susan Rice, a black woman who served as Obama’s national security adviser, “is a man with big swinging ape balls.”

Barr has apologized on Twitter several times, one being “I’m sorry 4 my tweet, AND I will also defend myself as well as talk to my followers. so, go away if u don’t like it. I will handle my sadness the way I want to. I’m tired of being attacked & belittled more than other comedians who have said worse.”

Although she said she is leaving Twitter, she claims she’s had a hard time figuring out how to delete her account and, apparently because it’s still around, posted more than 100 times since yesterday morning, according to CNN.

One was, “guys I did something unforgiveable (sic) so do not defend me. It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting — it was memorial day too — i went 2 far & do not want it defended — it was egregious Indefensible. I made a mistake I wish I hadn’t but…don’t defend it please.”

Another read, “Not giving excuses for what I did(tweeted) but I’ve done weird stuff while on ambien — cracked eggs on the wall at 2am etc.”

Ambien is a powerful sleeping supplement that has ambled its way into the Tiger Woods infidelity controversy. However, CNN’s John Brennan tweeted in response, “I have only taken Ambien once … but I don’t remember one of the side-effects being racism.”

Barr caused controversy by the following tweet: “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.”

One of her many tweets includes a response to co-stars Sara Gilbert and Michael Fishman whom she says threw her “under the bus” during the recent controversy. She retweeted several comments and links that defended her, deleting some. One she kept up came from Herman Cain, a Fox News contributor, who said, “I believe they were looking for a reason to cancel #Roseanne and here’s why. Even though the show was a ratings success, forces within ABC didn’t like the fact that her conservative defense of certain things was so popular.”

She also replied to tweets saying she believes she was fired because of a potential boycott by the show’s advertisers but said she would have left anyway if they attempted to censor her.

The revival of “Roseanne” was a huge hit for ABC television with many attributing its success to a unique moderate-to-conservative tone.
