San Fran's August Hall Prepares For Debut

SAN FRANCISCO (CelebrityAccess) — August Hall, a brand new concert space in San Francisco, is set to debut early next year under the leadership of four music and hospitality industry veterans, including Scott Murphy and Chad Donnelly of SnowGlobe Music Festival fame.

The hall, located at 420 Mason Street,  just one block west of San Fran’s Union Square, occupies the space that was most recently a home to the Ruby Skye nightclub, which shuttered earlier this year.

The building, known as the Native Sons of the Golden West building, housed the Stage Door Theater when it first opened in the early 1890s and still bears much of the art nouveau decor that was a hallmark of the original space.

When it re-opens in the Spring, the venue will feature a 1,000-capacity concert space, a restaurant, multiple bars and a three-lane bowling alley.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the project is being overseen by nightlife and hospitality vet Justin Roja, as well as music industry vets Scott Murphy and Chad Donnelly. As well, restaurant operator Nate Valentine is participating in the project.

“We don’t want this (venue) to be a flash in the pan,” Valentine told the Chronicle. “We love this city; we want to create a venue that’s here forever,” Valentine says. “For us, that was making sure we have the right music programming.”
