NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) – 2018 will bring with it a whole lot of new David Byrne, with the former Talking Heads frontman planning not only an ambitious new tour but also the release of a new album.

Beginning March 3rd, David Byrne of Talking Heads and solo fame plans to launch a tour beginning on the east coast with shows in New Jersey and New York, before heading to South America with shows planned in Chile and Argentina.

He then heads to Europe, with shows planned in both Croatia and Denmark.

Known for his technically impressive shows with the Talking Heads (in particular on their Stop Making Sense tour) Byrne has stated in a tweet that this upcoming string of shows will be his “most ambitious” since that tour.

Besides the new tour, which will be his first solo run since 2009, Byrne is also slated to release a new album featuring collaborations with artists like Brian Eno and Oneohtrix Point Never.

“The band and I will be testing all of this in front of a live audience during a small number of shows in the beginning of March,” Byrne told Rolling Stone. “We’ll be doing some new songs… and many others that will, I assume, be familiar. I’m excited. This is the most ambitious show I’ve done since the shows that were filmed for Stop Making Sense, so fingers crossed.”

Byrne, who has recently been experimenting with performance configuration, will be using this upcoming tour to implement a new mobility focused setup for himself and his musicians.

“I had an idea that everyone in the band might be mobile… so there would be no risers, drum platform or any of that stuff,” said Byrne in a statement. “I’d experienced a taste of this on the tour I did with St. Vincent, where all the brass players were mobile.

With everyone mobile, I realized the stage could be completely clear. If we could have the monitors in our ears, the amps off-stage and the lights up high, then we had the possibility of a completely empty space.”
