LONDON, UK (CelebrtiyAccess) – Music Week has reported that IMPEL will part ways with MPA and strike out on its own.
The new agency will be known as IMEPL Collective Management Ltd., and the company has already signed a new admin deal for its digital rights with French collection society SACEM.
Under the terms of the new agreement, IMPEL will retain the right to negotiate its own licenses, however, may exercise the option to be included in SACEM’s deals.
Of the announcement, an IMPEL spokesperson said: “Frankly SACEM blew us away with their level of understanding for our wish to represent our own interests. We are very commercial people and their approach was by some margin more commercial than their competition. SACEM were excited about the future of indie publishers and have gone out of their way to assist in all the issues that indie publishers face. IMPEL also decided that SACEM provided the speediest and most reliable invoicing and distribution systems, which again in turn plays into the commercial approach.”
The new organization will be open to members from all countries and will be licensing in all territories.
