LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Fleetwood Mac has reportedly fired Lindsey Buckingham and brought on Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell and Neil Finn of Crowded House for the next tour.

Buckingham’s apparent firing comes over a dispute regarding the upcoming tour, according to Rolling Stone. No tour dates have been announced but the tour is expected to begin in June. Meanwhile, the band has erased photos of Buckingham from its Facebook page and replaced them with a cartoon.

Reports of Buckingham parting ways with Fleetwood Mac have been floating for about a week. Former Mac guitarist Billy Burnette tweeted on April 4 that “Lindsey Buckingham is out” before deleting the post.

“We are thrilled to welcome the musical talents of the caliber of Mike Campbell and Neil Finn into the Mac family,” the band said in a statement. “With Mike and Neil, we’ll be performing all the hits that the fans love, plus we’ll be surprising our audiences with some tracks from our historic catalogue of songs. Fleetwood Mac has always been a creative evolution. We look forward to honoring that spirit on this upcoming tour.”

Mick Fleetwood added, “Fleetwood Mac has always been about an amazing collection of songs that are performed with a unique blend of talents … We jammed with Mike and Neil and the chemistry really worked and let the band realize that this is the right combination to go forward with in Fleetwood Mac style. We know we have something new, yet it’s got the unmistakable Mac sound.”

Finn told Rolling Stone that he got invited to join the band two weeks ago and was playing in a room with the band “a few days later.” Considering the band will need a singer and a guitarist to replace Buckingham, Finn added that it was a “natural fit.”

Buckingham has been with the the band since 1974, with a few departures but has had a solid relationship with the band for about 20 years running.

The last time this lineup has played together was at the MusiCares event in January, wrapping with “Go Your Own Way,” RS noted.
