NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) Pitbull is expected to talk at the United Nations in New York on World Water Day March 22.
The Grammy-winning rapper is expected to be honored for his global humanitarian efforts to raise awareness of diminishing water supplies. The visit will include Pitbull being named Clean Water Ambassador and receiving the 2018 World Water Champion Award. The visit was announced by the organization Clean Water Here.
Pitbull is considered the leader of a group of celebrities, including Bruno Mars, Pink, Maroon 5, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato, that is driving a social-media campaign for Clean Water Here called “Cause Flash” that wants to raise awareness of the water crisis.
“The lack of safe drinking water is one of the most important global challenges of the 21st century,” said Lani Dolifka, the creator of Clean Water Here. “Although the circumstances are very different in Flint Michigan and Sub-Saharan Africa, both share the same human story of woman and children suffering because of the lack of safe drinking water.”
Pitbull is also a member of the Water Now clean water campaign, along with supporters like Lady Gaga, Sesame Street, Justin Bieber, Pharrell Williams and Ryan Seacrest. Clean Water Here promotes clean water in the U.S., Water Now supports the work of World Vision water in Kenya and Honduras.
