PARIS, FRANCE (CelebrityAccess) Brigitte Bardot is the latest French celebrity to weigh in on a family dispute over the $125 million estate of the late French singer Johnny Hallyday.
In a radio interview, the movie legend urged Hallyday’s widow Laeticia, named as his sole heir, to give some of the money to his older children, singer David Hallyday, 51, and actress Laura Smet, 34 who, left with nothing, are contesting their father’s will.
The two announced their legal challenge last week.
Bardot told French radio station Europe 1 on Saturday (24TH): “I am disgusted. If I were Laeticia, I would put things right. I would give David and Laura what they deserve.”
But Hallyday (born Jean-Philippe Léo Smet), who died December 6th from lung cancer at 74, had a home in California, and was domiciled there for tax purposes, left everything in his will to Laeticia Hallyday, 42, his fourth wife, and their two adopted daughters.
Singer Sylvie Vartan, Hallyday’s first wife and David’s mother, said that during their divorce in 1980 she had urged Johnny to give her share of their home to their son.
“I don’t understand how someone can disinherit his children,” added French rock legend Eddy Mitchell, a friend of the late singer.
A week ago, Laeticia faced a torrent of vitriol on social media as it emerged that she is refusing to allow his adult children by previous wives a say in producing a posthumous album of his unreleased songs.
