MEXICO CITY (CelebrityAccess) — Amplifica, a benefit concert organized to help rebuild the homes of Mexicans afflicted by devastating earthquakes that struck the state of Oaxaca in September 2017, has raised 9,950,000 pesos, or roughly half a million dollars.

The six-hour concert, held on Nov. 1st at Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, featured homegrown artists Café Tacvba, Kinky, Molotov, Mon Laferte, Zoé and was broadcast on television and the internet. The show was also attended by national and international musicians, actors, activists and individuals who supported from their trenches the tasks of aid, rescue and stockpiling.

“The invaluable solidarity of all the attendees who supported this initiative with their ticket is what made Amplifica a reality. We are pleased to report that the amount of $ 9,950,000.00 (NINE MILLION NINE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND PESOS MN) was collected – once the production, tax, and monitoring expenses were met – that were distributed among the different initiatives and citizen efforts focused on building greater capacity for resilience, that involve the affected communities, that have a respect for diversity and cultural identity, and that in some way promote autonomy, development and economic reactivation. These initiatives do an admirable job and are committed to their communities,” organizers for the event said in a press statement.
