GLASGOW (vip-booking) – After 26 years as a cornerstone of Glasgow’s nightlife, The Shed nightclub in Shawlands is set to close its doors for good.

Opened in 1998, the beloved venue has been the backdrop for countless memorable nights, and its upcoming closure marks the end of an era for the city’s entertainment scene.

The Shed will host a series of farewell events, culminating in a final closing night celebration on September 14. The club’s owner, Michele Pagliocca, acknowledged the difficulty of the decision but expressed that “it’s the right time for us to say goodbye.”

Pagliocca reflected on The Shed’s impact, noting that the venue has “been more than just a nightclub,” serving as a gathering place for unforgettable moments. “For 26 years, we’ve had the privilege of being at the heart of this community, creating moments that we hope will stay with people forever,” he said.

The building at 26 Langside Avenue has a rich history, having operated as a hospitality venue since the 1920s. Known initially as Marlborough House, it hosted ballroom dancing, cabaret, and comedy nights. The Shed continued this tradition, expanding its offerings to include dance music, themed nights, pantomimes, weddings, and community celebrations.

As the club prepares to close, Pagliocca assured staff members are supported during the transition. The future of the iconic building remains uncertain, but Pagliocca stated that time will be taken to consider its next chapter and its place within the community.

The final series of celebrations aims to honor everything the club has achieved, providing one last opportunity for patrons to revel in the venue’s storied history.
